HupSix Workouts

HupSix is a dance cardio workout that uses patented resistance gear to music that rocks. It is based on three simple rules of engagement.

1.  Step in time to the song.
2.  Don't clench your hands.
3.  Don't think of it as dancing.

Have you seen the movies from the 1940's that make it seem everyone knew how to dance together?  Well, they actually did.  It seems kinda crazy today, but the basic step for swing dance was easy to pick up right on the spot.  That's how the military was able to spread it from a small, elite group at the Savoy Ballroom in NYC to the entire world.  The style was naturally athletic.  In fact, it was the first dance style done in sneakers.

HupSix has taken this basic step as the foundation of the workouts.  This keeps your feet constantly moving in time to the song making for excellent cardio. We've even created a Click Method so you simply step to the clicks, which speeds up the process of learning and comprehension by 93%.  If you watch a HupSix live class everyone is moving in unison. Thus, the term Hup.  The military use it similarly during training to move as a unit Hup 2, 3, 4... In HupSix, we have a six count pattern 1, 3, 5, 6.

Once you have the basic step everything falls into line quickly like turns, twists.  You treat the HupSix gear like a partner.  In fact, the patented handles are designed so you can learn how to hold them with your fingertips like you would a partner.  The bungee provides resistance activating your entire body.  The over sneaker socks allow you to twist & turn in sneakers preventing strain on joints.

Don't think of it as dancing.  This might seem like strange advice for a dance cardio workout but to be good at HupSix you need to keep it simple. When people think of it as dancing they have a tendency add more than what is needed.    Follow the instructor exactly and get your body to go where you tell it.  Think of it like you are running football or baseball drills. It will help you HupSix better.  This is why many athletes love HupSix for cross-training.

Did you know we have members from The Rolling Stones, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp and more making music for HupSix classes?  Yeah, crazy, right?!  They give us solid grooves, big energy and backbeats.  A great song helps you HupSix better.
